A local player, Greg Schnider, stopped by to give a Gold Leaf High D a try. It was a pleasure listening to a well skilled player playing one of my whistles.

Philipp.mp4

This is Philipp doing a great job at showcasing a Gold Leaf whistle with a fine tune called the Killavil Jig.

The Banshee.mp4

This is my attempt at playing The Banshee properly. As many have noticed, the second octave is quite sweet. I tend to love playing songs that go there with this whistle. An added plus, this room has some lovely acoustics.

Great reviews by experienced players

I am in general very impressed, lovely tone, volume and it seems to stay in tune through different temps and humidity.

I only have one reservation, it is very difficult to change the octaves at high speed, especially when playing a and b, for example when playing Jennies Chickens there is a phrase where I play high b, a and g dropping down to the low b between each note, I cannot do it on this whistle, it squeaks. However, it would not stop me playing it in sessions and at home, I really like the tone, the light air requirement and its stability.

My main whistle is a brass Burke session, with the c natural hole, I would rate your whistle as comparable. The tone on the Burke is purer, but your whistle has a lovely tone with a bit of airiness, if that's a word. It is light, comfortable to hold, easy to fill and as I said in tune.

I have played the tin whistle for over 40 years, early on for a living, for the last 30 years only for pleasure and favours, I think you have done a remarkable job, and would buy another whistle or two from you as you develop and make different keys.

  • Gold Leaf (0:56)
  • Tilbury (1:25)

Striving for excellence

The first batch of whistles I sold was a success and with reason: it's a great sounding whistle made from a high performance material at a reasonable price. It's not yet perfect but it brings a level of satisfaction to your ears that makes it worth buying. As more people support my craft, I can afford to prototype new whistles that can fit the needs of tin whistle players everywhere.

Thank you for your patronage!
